Why use a password?
You are responsible for your Demon Internet account, so you should protect your Demon password in the same way you take care with your bank PIN code. Do not share your password with anyone else - your password is personal and no genuine Demon Internet staff will ever ask you for your password once it has been set.

Choosing your Demon password?
Choose a word of between six and eight characters that is memorable for you, but not one that would be obvious to a potential password thief.

  • Avoid using your name, or the names of members of your family or pets  either forwards or backwards.
  • If you do want to base your password on one of these, think about
  • using unusual capitalisation
    mis-spelling a word
  • mixing short words and numbers (e.g. I3did4it)
  • Taking the first character of words from a sentence (e.g. aynilmd - All you need is love, my dear)
  • Leaving all the vowels out of a short sentence (e.g. llyndslv - All you need is love)
  • Inserting part of one word into another one (e.g. deintmon - Demon Internet)

When should I change my password?

If you believe that someone has seen you type in your password or has guessed your password, you should change it immediately. It is also a good idea to change it to a password that you are happy with once you have set up your account.

Passwords at Demon Internet accounts do not expire, but it is a good idea to change it at regular intervals.

How do I change my password?
It is a good policy to change your password on a regular basis and easy to do with Demon.  Once you have chosen your new password, click here [link to: https://www.password.uk.demon.net] and choose to make your change via our secure server (recommended) or, if your browser does not support encryption, choose the insecure option.
